When it comes to helping a loved one who suffers from any kind of mental disorder, things can get a little difficult wether you also suffer from mental disorders or no. There are three important aspects that are key when you're willing to support someone who's struggling: knowledge, communication and professional help.
Learn about the mental illness
It is important that you understand the details of your loved one's disorder(s) in order to adress the situation. Some symptoms from the same illness might differ from one patient to another, that's why the more you learn about it, the better. It is not only a way of showing your partner how much you care for them, but it is also a way to directly helping them by adressing the situation with the proper knowledge and details.

Communication
The ability to notice wether someone is doing all right might be difficult when it comes to mental disorders. No matter how hard you've learnt about it, if you don't directly ask someone if they are doing alright or not, they are most likely not going to tell you about it. You can also ask to attend a therapy session with them so a professional can give you advice on how to communicate with your mentally ill loved one.

Professional help
Always have in mind that you aren't anyone's saviour. It's not your duty to save your friend, family member or partner who is struggling. That's why it's important that they seek professional help if they haven't done it yet. It will not only help them, but also the people who worry for them sine it's the only way they can start to heal. Love is not a replacement for therapy.
